Born in Fiume, Abdon Pamich grew up amid the upheaval of postwar events that would force his family into the Istrian-Dalmatian exodus, leaving their border hometown behind. Relocating to Italy, he rebuilt his life through discipline and determination, shaped by hardship and displacement. Through intense training and sacrifice, Pamich discovered race walking, a demanding sport that became his path forward. The film traces his journey from exile to athletic excellence, culminating in Olympic gold. Il marciatore tells the story of a man who, long before mastering race walking, first learned resilience, endurance, and the will to resist against adversity.
