A collection of 186 poems in Fiuman dialect by the author grouped into eight sections: Dialetar (to speak in dialect; 21-38), Scribaciar (to scribble; 39-58), Fiumanar (to be from Fiume; 59-1180, Profugar (to be a refugee; 119-175), Spiritualizar (to speak of spiritual matters; 177-255), Socialixar (to socialize; 259-317), Ocasionar (occasional matters; 319-351), and Familiar (family matters; 353-402). As the author explains, “As a Jesuit, it is more than natural for me to point out, to teach, to try to bestow values. Not the least of these is that of passing on a world, a culture in which one was born, lived, was enriched, which even to foreign eyes appears to be of a remarkable level, if only because of its Central European resonances. To also pass on our typical way of speaking: the dialect.”
“Almost all of the poems reveal original historical and social aspects that lead the reader into the unknown realities of a culture that, for many people, remaims in the shadows. In this way, the volume helps to complete the history, art, dynamics, and beauty of Italy.” Sr. Giovanna della Croce, OCD, in Teresianum
